About the Play

Marnie returns home to say goodbye to her grandmother, Ximena, and finally take her off life support. Gathered around the hospital bed, Marnie and the rest of her family watch as the doctor turns off the machine. Silence. Then, beep beep beep — Ximena, unexpectedly begins to breath on her own!

This compels Marnie to reconnect with her estranged mother, Cynthia.
Marnie's girlfriend, Sarah, seeks Emiliano’s (Marnie’s father) blessing to marry Marnie.
And Tomas is… well… a teenager.

Simultaneously, Dr. Friedrichs and Dr. Wells grapple with the mysterious condition of Ximena. Their search for answers leads them to confront the limits of science and the nature of divinity.

Throughout the play, the spirit of Ximena, visible only to Dr. Wells, offers sardonic, sad, and lonely commentary on the unfolding events, deepening the narrative’s emotional layers revealing the complexity of family dynamics.
