“Broke As A Joke" is a unique multimedia series that blends various formats, including traditional narrative, graphic novel elements, video segments, and interactive moments. The show follows three struggling actors hired by the mysterious Doug Corp to star in a low-budget variety show that constantly teeters on the edge of cancellation.

The series is deliberately meta and self-aware, frequently breaking the fourth wall and acknowledging its own format as both a book and a TV show. Characters reference being in "episodes" and "books" interchangeably, creating a playful blurring of media formats that is central to the show's identity.
